During the
month of February, new maize, millet, sorghum and rice continued to be marketed
massively in West Africa. . Overall the trends announced during the month of
January have been confirmed. Thus, yields were good to very good for maize and
rice, average for sorghum and low for millet.
- For rice, except Niger and Guinea, as in the past month, in most West African countries, there was a good availability of supply on all the markets, leading to a Stability or even a slight drop in prices. In this West African space, Mali confirmed the good performance and is one of the countries having registered record levels of production.
- For maize, there was even relatively more stock in January and there was significant marketing of the new maize on the various markets of the West African countries monitored, which made it possible for its price stability and in some cases, a slight drop in prices.
- For millet, new sales were recorded in most markets monitored. While prices are rising in Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso and Senegal, they are more or less stable in the coastal countries of Guinea, Ghana, Benin and Ivory Coast.
- For sorghum, compared to last month, there was a slight increase in Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger, while in other markets the trend was stable
