During this month
of October, better than in September, new crops began to appear on the markets
of West African countries, followed by an improvement in the availability of
different products. Cereals (maize, millet, sorghum, rice).
For rice: the trend has been towards stability or even a slight fall in prices on
almost all markets in West African countries monitored. Stabilities were
recorded for Benin, Togo, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina-Faso and Senegal while
price decreases were observed in Mali and Niger.
For maize: During this month of October, price stability was recorded in Benin,
Togo, Ghana, Côte d'Ivoire and Senegal while price decreases were observed in
Niger, France, Burkina Faso and Mali
For millet: Seasonal increases seen for some time in the markets seem to be
stabilizing this month. Thus, in Benin, Togo, Côte d'Ivoire, Niger, Mali and
Senegal, there has been a tendency for price stability in the markets
monitored, while a slight decrease in prices has been observed in Burkina Faso.
Only Ghana recorded a slight increase in millet prices in its markets.
For sorghum: During this month of October we recorded price stability in the markets of
4 countries namely Ghana, Ivory Coast, Senegal, and Mali. On the other hand,
the trend has been on the rise in the markets of 3 countries namely Benin,
Togo, and Niger. Only Burkina Faso recorded a slight decline in millet prices
on the markets monitored.
